How to Rent a Great Home For Low Cost in Far South Thailand

The one thing that most people don't know about renting a home (in a small town) in South Thailand is that you can find some really great homes to rent at an incredibly low cost. But how do you actually do that? Let's find out...

The first thing you need to do is work out exactly what sort of home you want... In other words, have a good idea about what budget you are prepared to pay, whether you want a garden, furniture added, a home in a quiet area, internet on, and so on. Once you're clear about these needs, you can get looking for your new Thai home.

Depending on where you locate, expect to pay anywhere from $45 to $300 per month to rent your Thai home. Throw in about $25 for Internet and telephone, $15 for electricity and you're pretty much sorted. Told you it was low cost, right? If you need to invest in a fridge, cooker, bedding and furniture, a trip to your local department store takes care of that.

Finding your new Thai home is probably the tricky part. It's not that it's difficult to find a home, it's just that looking at homes takes a good deal of time, and you have to get out there and literally search around. Bring a Thai person with you if you can so you can read the Thai 'home for rent' signs, and ask locals if they know any homes available.

The way I found my Thai rental home was get on a small motorcycle and make a fun day of it. Turn your 'house hunting' into a bit of an adventure and it'll be more enjoyable. Keep your eyes peeled for the 'rent home' signs and also look for homes that seem uninhabited. These are potential houses you could rent. Make it fun, keep your 'ideal home' firmly in mind and you're guaranteed to find something great!
